Hi. As responses indicate, it all depends where you want to start. The “official” start of the trail is by the canal closest to Baby Beach. From there to the end of the paved trail and the lookout, it is 4 miles. The trail does continue north but is a dirt path, probably okay if you have a mountain bike or something similar, but not a lot of fun on a beach cruiser style of bike. You can also ride south from the official start and with a few adjustments, ride safely all the way to Lydate Park. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
Q:
Where is a good place to rent bikes, street bikes or hybrids?
A:
Kauai Cycle is the most professionall. They are at 821-2115. Coconut Coasters is very convenient, right on the path by the kapaa neighborhood center.
Q:
Where did you rent your bikes? Would you recommend them?
A:
HeLe is where we got ours very cheap and super nice but they have a few other laces
Q:
If we walk the entire path are there restaurants along the way for lunch?
A:
At the Kapaa end plenty along main road. A slight diversion. Pickup stuff before and use picnic tables along trail. Much nicer than eating along road.
Q:
How long is the path? Where does it start/end?

The path starts at the road by the Kapaa shores resort and winds about 4.5 miles of paved pathway and is a 1000 foot ascent. After the pavement it's a dirt road into the weeds …
