A man has appeared in court charged with setting a van full of fireworks ablaze on Sunday. Emergency services were called to Braes Avenue in Clydebank at around 1am following reports of a vehicle fire. Nearby buildings were evacuated while firefighters directed hoses onto a flat building to stop it from catching fire.

A van containing fireworks was deliberately set on fire in the early hours of Sunday, 23 February, in Clydebank, Scotland, police said. The blaze set off the explosions, with rockets shooting into the sky above Braes Avenue at around 1am.

Families in Clydebank faced "sheer terror" when a van containing fireworks was deliberately set alight in the middle of the night. Homes were evacuated and roads closed when the vehicle, which was parked on a driveway,
