California Gov. Gavin Newsom plans to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration early Monday morning over the president’s deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Los Angeles, even as the LAPD chief admitted Sunday his cops “are overwhelmed” by the violent anti-ICE riots taking over the city.
Gavin Newsom asked the Trump administration on Sunday to rescind its move to deploy 2,000 California National Guardsmen to Los Angeles to subdue immigration protests, accusing the White House of illegally overriding his authority and intentionally inflaming tensions with protesters.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has formally requested Trump administration officials to rescind the order to deploy the National Guard and return control of the force to California, calling the initial order unlawful and "intentionally designed to inflame the situation.
