London’s Grenfell Tower, which was engulfed in flames more than seven years ago in a disaster that killed 72 people, will be demolished, bereaved families and survivors said on Thursday.

The British government said Friday the Grenfell Tower, where 72 people died in a west London 2017 fire, will be taken down. A 6-year investigation found it was avoidable and caused by incompetence, dishonesty and greed.

Angela Rayner had been accused of "ignoring" the voices of people who lost family in the fire in June 2017, which killed 72 people. In its announcement, the government said it would take two years for the tower to be taken down.
