Among White's biggest coups as he put together his league was to get Hirano to sign on. The Snow League will add halfpipe skiing at its next event, in China in December, and if White can close a deal to bring Olympic champion Eileen Gu onto that circuit, he'll have arguably the biggest star in action sports.

The Snow League, Shaun White’s new professional halfpipe league, debuts Friday, March 7, 2025 at Buttermilk in Aspen. The league features a $1.6 million prize pool. Each event will give $370,000 to the winners,

Snow League’s inaugural series returns in December 2025 with a stop at Secret Garden, China, followed by a return to Aspen’s Buttermilk and the finale in Switzerland. Halfpipe skiing will be added to the lineup moving forward, according to White.

He retired from competition after the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, but now he’s on a mission to transform the sport in a different way. He has founded a new tour for halfpipe snowboarders and freeskiers called The Snow League, debuting this weekend in Aspen, where he dominated the Winter X Games from 2003 to 2013.

Shaun White's next trick might carry more risk than the flips and twists he pulled off for decades inside all those halfpipes he used to dominate. This time, it's about making magic — and money — for the generation of snowboarders who looked up to him for all those years.
