Tropical Storm Erin may near Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic before likely turning north as a hurricane, sparing the U.S.

Tropical Storm Erin continues to move westward across the Atlantic as it is expected to become a hurricane in a couple of days, the National Hurricane Center said.

Erin could potentially strengthen to sustain wind speeds of over 115 miles per hour in the next four days, making it a Category Three hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale and the first major hurricane of the Atlantic season.
