DETROIT. (WILX) - Jackson Lumen Christi had a historic night at Ford Field on Friday night. The Titans took down Lansing Catholic 56-18 in the Division 6 state title game for Lumen Christi’s 14th state title, which is the most in MHSAA history.

The Cougars, who finished 4-7 last season, had their bid to cap their bounce-back season with a state championship spoiled by Lumen Christi and its star running back Kadale Williams.

Kadale Williams rushed for a state finals record 314 yards and five touchdowns as the Titans rolled to a 56-18 win over Lansing Catholic in the D6 state championship game.

The Lansing Catholic football team will try for its third state championship since 2019 when it plays in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 6 state title game on Friday, Nov. 29 at Ford Field in downtown Detroit. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

Lumen Christi has captured its past two titles in Division 7, beating Traverse City St. Francis in the 2022 title game and Menominee in last year's state final. The Titans won three consecutive state titles from 2016-18, picking up wins over Maple City Glen Lake, Ithaca and Montague in title games.
