ORLANDO, Fla. — Tropical Storm Erin on Tuesday continued to push west through the Atlantic with the National Hurricane Center still forecasting it to become a major hurricane.

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Erin is making its way west across the Atlantic Ocean – but with the storm still thousands of miles from the U.S. coast, FOX 13 meteorologists say it's still too soon to pinpoint its eventual path.

The last time a Hurricane Erin occurred was in 2001. The storm became a hurricane on Sept. 9. Erin was off the East Coast near New York on Sept. 11. NASA satellite images of the hurricane show smoke from the World Trade Centers blowing south.
