No NHL team had more picks over the next three NHL Drafts than the Pittsburgh Penguins. They had almost too many to use, and so Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas had plenty of ammunition to trade upward to a blue-chip prospect Friday in the first round of the 2025 draft.

Getting the No. 12 pick gives the Penguins power. They need stars and standing pat in this top-heavy draft won't do the trick.

Bill Zonnon was taken at No. 22 before the Penguins moved up to select Will Horcoff, their third 18-year-old forward of the first round, at No. 24 by trading picks No. 31 and 59 to the Los Angeles Kings.
