McIlroy’s victory marks the third time he has won in his season debut on the PGA Tour. Currently ranked No. 3 in the world, McIlroy said Saturday after his bogey-free round of 65 that he’ll use this week as a jumping-off point for the thick of the season and the four major championships.

"I thought a couple of them were pointed at me a little bit because TGL, Race to Dubai, non-PGA TOUR events," Rory McIlroy said about Charlie Hoffman letter.

McIlroy responded to a recent memo that Charley Hoffman sent his fellow PGA Tour members over the weekend, in which Hoffman took a shot, seemingly, at McIlroy.

Rory McIlroy was backed to return to winning ways by golf rival Billy Horschel, who admitted the Northern Irishman deserves a Green Jacket
