Shemar Stewart has been impressive during training camp thus far. But it doesn't preclude him from the traditional rookie duties.
On Wednesday, Cincinnati Bengals rookie Shemar Stewart declined to talk to reporters. He had hit Joe Burrow awkwardly low after a pass rush, a total no-no in training camp. The quarterbacks are off limits, and it set off a scuffle.
He continues to face new challenges. Stewart didn’t rush as a three-technique defensive tackle in college. For the Bengals, Stewart could rush from that spot on critical third downs and in two-minute situations. He’s also lining up over both the left and right tackles as the coaching staff tries to maximize Stewart’s versatility in his role.
