As wildfires still rage in California, Oregon is among several states grappling with steep costs related to fighting wildfires this year.

Oregon lawmakers plan to gavel in for a quick legislative session Thursday afternoon to provide emergency money to agencies that fought the state’s wildfires this summer. A record 1.9 million acres burned during a season three times as bad as the 10-year average.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers will return to the state Capitol on Monday to begin a special session to protect the state's progressive policies ahead of another Trump presidency.
