Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works and the U.S. Air Force have successfully tested technology that allows fighter pilots to control a drone while in flight.

The pilot of a Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor stealth fighter successfully maneuvered an MQ-20 Avenger unmanned jet during a demonstration of human-machine flight cooperation in an Oct. 21 flight test, according to drone maker General Atomics.

The plane appeared to lose control and dive directly toward the ground just before crashing inside the grounds of the airfield.
