A huge and sudden flood entered the Bhote Koshi River from the Chinese side on Wednesday morning, causing major damage in parts of Rasuwa and prompting authorities to issue high-alert warnings downstream as far as Muglin.

China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has activated a Level-IV emergency response to flooding in Guangdong and Guizhou provinces, the lowest level in the country's four-tier emergency response system, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.

Torrential rain and storms in Typhoon Dolphin's wake inundated several provinces in China's east, drenching the coastal region and flooding streets in Shanghai.

China has entered its peak flood control period, weather experts said, with extreme rainfall set to increase in frequency and ​intensity from late July to early August, with much of ‌northern China set to experience 20% to 50% more rainfall than usual.
