Dollar Tree is set to shutter over 370 stores across the nation, sparking concern among communities and shopping centers.

Dollar Tree, which operates hundreds of stores in California, has taken control of the leases at 170 recently shuttered 99 Cents Only locations.

Dollar Tree announced it would be closing nearly 1,000 Family Dollar and a handful of Dollar Tree locations, with stores shuttering by mid-year, according to a statement that released last week.

With 99 Cents Only Stores in bankruptcy, Dollar Tree has picked up the leases for 170 of the company's locations.
