The Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays discussed a trade that would send a reliever to Toronto, per a report.

With two days until the trade deadline, the Pittsburgh Pirates have only made one trade of note this month. Pittsburgh sent infielder Adam Frazier to the Kansas City Royals for minor leaguer Cam Devanney on July 16.

According to one baseball insider, the Blue Jays have identified the Pittsburgh Pirates as a potential trade suitor. On Tuesday, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported that Toronto and Pittsburgh have been discussing trades involving the latter club's relievers, most likely closer David Bednar and setup man Dennis Santana.

The Tigers acquired right-handers Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak from the Minnesota Twins on Monday, July 28 — just three days before the MLB trade deadline, which is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31. Although Paddack becomes a free agent after 2025, Dobnak has team options for 2026, 2027 and 2028.

The Texas Rangers are linked to closers from the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Adolis Garcia's name has been rumored.
