Nissan Motor Corporation and Renault Group jointly announced that they are restructuring their alliance, with the Japanese automaker agreeing to sell its 51% stake in their Indian joint venture, Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd (RNAIPL),

All these changes are part of Renault’s 2027 International Game Plan that will allow the French carmaker to accelerate its growth by streamlining its operations with its alliance partner Nissan.

Renault to acquire Nissan’s 51% stake in their Indian JV, making RNAIPL a fully owned Renault subsidiary. Nissan to continue sourcing vehicles from India.

The deal lowers the minimum required voting stake they must hold in each other to 10%, from 15%.

Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co. agreed to further loosen their long-term alliance, giving the struggling Japanese automaker greater financial flexibility as it seeks a turnaround under a new chief executive officer.

Starting with the fun stuff, Nissan will be getting a version of the upcoming Renault Twingo. It’s slated to arrive in 2026 and will feature unique styling created by the Japanese automaker.
