(WSVN) - A local family called authorities to take care of a snake slithering in their backyard. A Miami-Dade fire rescue captain jumped into action to remove the cottonmouth snake from the residence.
Six venomous snake species are native to Florida, including three rattlesnake species. Snakes are most active during warmer months, starting in the late spring and carrying on throughout the summer.
