Having practiced karate since she was 7, Mickey wanted to study a form of martial arts that combines gymnastics, acrobatics and weapons choreography called Xtreme Martial Arts, or XMA.

In June, Hill took first place in Extreme Martial Arts (XMA) weapons in the men's division for ages 17-to-29 at the American Taekwondo Association World Championships in Little Rock, Ark.

She placed second in the world in the traditional forms competition and third in the world in traditional weapons, creative forms, creative weapons and XMA weapons.

Not many kids likely can say they've shared a karate belt rank with their grandmother.
