Union Home Minister Amit Shah hit back at the Congress during a press conference in Delhi, accusing the opposition party of misrepresenting his remarks in Parliament and adopting an anti-Ambedkar stance.

Reacting to the controversy triggered by his remark on the Dalit icon BR Ambedkar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday accused the Congress of distorting his statement in the parliament. Calling the Congress "anti-Ambedkar", the BJP further claimed that former PM Jawaharlal Nehru had hatred for the iconic leader.

Babasaheb Ambedkar's grandson Prakash Ambedkar alleged on Wednesday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on the father of the Constitution reflected the BJP's "same old mentality".

At a press conference on Wednesday, Amit Shah lashed out at Congress and said that his remarks on Ambedkar were twisted. I can never speak against Ambedkar ji, he said.

Flashing posters of Ambedkar, Opposition MPs led by Leaders of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi staged protests inside and outside Parliament paralysing it while Modi led the BJP counter-attack with senior ministers like J P Nadda and Kiren Rijiju defending the Home Minister accusing the Congress of disrespecting him.
