U.S. men's and women's relay teams captured gold medals and shattered world records at the short-course swimming world championships in Budapest on Tuesday.

McIntosh and American Gretchen Walsh each broke a world record on the first day of the world short course swimming championships in Budapest. McIntosh, 18, broke the world record in the first final of the six-day meet in the 400m freestyle.

McIntosh broke the women's 400-metre freestyle record with a time of 3:50.25, while Mary-Sophie Harvey of Trois-Rivières, Que., took bronze in 3:54.88 on the first day of the World Aquatics short course championships in Budapest.
