Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on charges of sedition and subsequently denied bail, sparking protests across Bangladesh

Bangladesh: Advocate Ramen Roy, the lawyer who is defending Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, has been brutally attacked in Bangladesh and is in the ICU, ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharamn Das claimed on Monday.

The only lawyer ready to defend Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the Hindu priest arrested and accused of sedition in Bangladesh, has been attacked, the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) has said.

Advocate Ramen Roy was attacked in Bangladesh after defending Hindu monk Chinmo Prabhu, highlighting dangers faced by religious minorities.

ISKCON spokesperson Radharaman Das on Monday claimed the only lawyer, who was ready to defend arrested Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das, is currently fighting for his life in a hospital after he was attacked in Bangladesh.

Several social media posts and reports by Indian news outlets claim that the lawyer defending ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) priest Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was hacked to death in Bangladesh during recent violence in Chattogram.

Iskcon spokesperson Radharamn Das said on Monday that Advocate Ramen Roy, who had represented Bangladeshi Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in a legal case, was brutally assaulted in Bangladesh and is now hospitalised in critical condition.

On December 2, Bangladeshi Hindus in Canada organized a protest over the arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh. The arrest was made on charges of sedition after Das allegedly raised a flag on a stand displaying Bangladesh’s national flag.
