Narciso Barranco, the 48-year-old Tustin landscaper and father of three U.S. Marines who was punched in the head and detained by federal immigration agents last month — sparking a nationwide outcry — will be released on bond from the Adelanto U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing center, a supporter said.

The officer was shot in the neck on Friday, the night of the Fourth of July, after reporting to the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) southwest of Dallas. He was treated at a hospital and released, the Johnson County Sheriff’s office said.
