Another astronomical phenomena may be viewable from Louisville this weekend: The Geminid Meteor Shower. During it's peak, it is expected to be one of the best of the year, according to experts.

The shower forms from the debris of an asteroid and peaks this weekend. But a nearly full moon could interfere with viewing.

The Geminid meteor shower, which NASA calls one of the "best meteor showers of the year," is expected to peak Friday and Saturday. The big picture: The shower appears around mid-December each year as Earth passes through the debris left behind by the asteroid 3200 Phaethon.
