Consensus five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons is headed to BYU, but not before answering the call to serve. During his commitment announcement on “The Pat McAfee Show” Tuesday morning, Lyons confirmed that he would be serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prior to suiting up for the Cougars.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Ryder Lyons committed to the Cougars on Tuesday, choosing BYU over Oregon, USC, Ole Miss and more. Lyons explained that he will not be playing for BYU as a true freshman because he will spend the year serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
