Champions Trophy has faced a new roadblock, with BCCI reportedly refusing to accept the hybrid conditions laid down by the PCB.

India are scheduled to host multiple ICC events in the next decade, including the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 and the T20 World Cup in 2026 jointly with Sri Lanka. The 2029 Champions Trophy and 2031 ODI World Cup are also scheduled to be held in India.

The PCB has strongly rejected reports suggesting that Pakistan had "surrendered" in its discussions with the ICC over the Champions Trophy.

Sources within the BCCI suggest that internal discussions on these matters remain ongoing. Given Shah’s political affiliation with the ruling BJP, which has a tough stance on Pakistan, there is concern over whether he would visit Pakistan to present the trophy in the event of a Pakistan win.

PCB have shown willingness to accept the proposal, in a recent ICC meeting, they have urged the governing body to follow the same model when the upcoming ICC events will be held in India. India is set to host the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, and 2026 T20 World Cup (along with Sri Lanka).
