The Savannah Bananas played “Banana Ball” baseball for a sellout crowd of 74,000 at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium on Friday. They play again Saturday.

The Savannah Bananas, a Georgia-based, theatrically-driven baseball team founded by a Charlotte-area native, delighted more than 70,000 people on their first night in the Queen City.

Baseball isn’t boring and the CW isn’t stupid, at least when it comes to the Savannah Bananas, the Georgia-based team that has rewritten the rules around the classic American pastime. The network has picked up rights to broadcast the July 27 Bananas game at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia.
