India all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer is willing to accept the leadership role at defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL)

India cricketer Venkatesh Iyer has made it clear that he is ready to captain the Kolkata Knight Riders if given an opportunity in the upcoming edition of IPL 2025. He was secured by the defending champions for a staggering amount of Rs 23.

KKR have not yet made public who their new captain will be, but Iyer, who was bought back for a record sum of INR 23.75 crore (US$ 2.83 million approx.), is learned to be among the top contenders along with former India captain Ajinkya Rahane.

Shreyas Iyer has established himself in the cricketing arena with his fearless batting and consistent performances. He has been named the captain of Punjab Kings for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). PBKS outbid Delhi Capitals to acquire Iyer for a staggering ₹26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
