The snake, believed to be a rare copperhead, was reported along Attleboro’s Ten Mile River near Milk Street, officials wrote.

Using a photo from the city, the state herpetologist identified it as a northern watersnake, a much more common, nonvenomous snake.

In a social media post, the city said there was a report of a copperhead snake in the area of Milk Street and the Ten Mile River that may have bitten two dogs.
