No. 7 Michigan State men's basketball suffered its first Big Ten loss of the season on Saturday when it was defeated by USC, 70-64. Spartans coach Tom Izzo shared his thoughts afterward.

This is the Spartans’ first loss outside of Quad 1, but they also have just two wins over teams that would be safely in the field today.

Following the game, Tom Izzo had high praise for the Trojans. "They got good players, and they got good size," Izzo said. "Those guards are bigger than ours, and the 4-men are smaller. And it was just a tough matchup for us.

Michigan State took their first conference loss and first loss of any kind in over two months because of a bad start that they never recovered from in LA. Tom Izzo noted the ‘atrocious’ start that never got that much better for the Spartans following the 70-64 defeat at USC on Saturday.
