President Donald Trump is hoping separate phone calls with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will make progress toward a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine.

President Donald Trump is set to speak Monday with Vladimir Putin, in what the U.S. president said is an attempt to stop the “bloodbath” of the war in Ukraine.

Trump told reporters on Friday that he would speak with Putin after the Russian president skipped peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey.
