Cubs left-hander Shota Imanaga turned to look over his left shoulder at the video board showing the replay of the home run he just had given up in the fourth inning Friday. In a game the Cubs would go on to lose 12-5 to the White Sox, it was the third homer Imanaga had yielded, all on fastballs that caught too much of the strike zone.

Nevertheless, Palencia persevered, and the Cubs defeated the White Sox 5-4, winning the series and maintaining a first-place tie with the Brewers, who came from behind to beat the Marlins. (We should still thank the Marlins for taking two of three in Milwaukee.)

Ben Brown pitched five effective innings, Pete Crow-Armstrong drove in two runs and the Chicago Cubs held off the Chicago White Sox for a 5-4 win.
