BOSTON — Charlie Coyle scored a pair of third-period goals, stealing the spotlight from fellow Boston University product Macklin Celebrini in his first game back at the TD Garden as an NHLer and leading the Bruins to a 6-3 victory over San Jose on Monday.

The Boston Bruins got back on track Monday afternoon at TD Garden, scoring four goals in the third period to secure a 6-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks.
According to interim coach Joe Sacco, the physical forward is out with an illness. Frederic’s absence leaves the Bruins without one of their most physical players. He has seven goals and seven assists in 47 games. The Bruins are now missing, Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm, Cole Koepke and Frederic.

The Bruins recalled forward Vinni Lettieri from AHL Providence on Monday, according to the AHL’s transactions log. Lettieri, 29, will take Marc McLaughlin’s place on the active roster.
Charlie Coyle scored the tying and winning goals in the third period as part of a three-point effort, helping the Boston Bruins surge past the visiting San Jose Sharks 6-3 on Monday afternoon.
Will Smith came home to Boston with a goal and an assist in one of the best games of his young career. Fabian Zetterlund and Barclay Goodrow also scored for the Sharks, who have lost three straight. Yaroslav Askarov returned from an illness and made 27 saves.
Lindholm has been a 22-point flop. He is signed for six more seasons with no-move protection through 2029. Lindholm, 30, is practically untradeable, even if the Bruins eat part of his remaining salary.
The Boston Bruins have recalled forward Vinni Lettieri from the Providence Bruins, it was announced Monday. Lettieri, who was acquired by the Bruins in June from the Minnesota Wild, has spent the whole season with Providence thus far. Through 35 games, he has scored 14 goals and added 21 assists for 35 points.
