Joel Embiid begins another season restart: ‘You can’t put your head down and whine about it’
Embiid was back — again — from a nine-game absence on Sunday because of an issue in his right knee. “If anybody thinks that I don’t want to play every game, that’s their problem,” he said.
Joel Embiid (right knee injury management) will miss his 10th consecutive game when the Sixers host the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday evening, according to the team's initial injury report for the game unveiled on Saturday. VJ Edgecombe (left calf injury management) and Andre Drummond (right knee contusion) are listed as questionable:
To Nurse's point, it isn't just the Embiid and George factors. The Sixers are also dealing with injuries to Kelly Oubre Jr., VJ Edgecombe, and Trendon Watford. They just got Adem Bona back from a right ankle sprain against Brooklyn, but then lost Andre Drummond to a right knee sprain, so that leaves the rotation thin on a nightly basis.
Nick Nurse outlines Joel Embiid’s recovery progress as the 76ers await their star center’s return from recent knee soreness.
Nick Nurse made sure the referees noticed his timeout request in overtime as he was seen voicing his appeal to the officials.
Embiid last played in the 76ers' win over Toronto on Nov. 8 and was officially out the next night against Detroit because he wasn't cleared to play in back-to-backs in the wake of his recovery from April surgery on his left knee. The 2023 NBA MVP, the 76ers said it was Embiid's right knee soreness that kept him from playing until Sunday.
