BRUSSELS (AP) — Threats from the White House over Greenland have sparked outrage and a flurry of diplomatic activity across Europe, as leaders consider possible countermeasures, including retaliatory tariffs and the first-ever use of the European Union’s anti-coercion instrument.
White House officials have been discussing various plans to bring Greenland under US control, including potential use of the US military and lump-sum payments to Greenlanders to convince them to secede.
Leaders from Greenland and Denmark are slated to meet Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio at White House, as Trump weighs acquiring Greenland for security.
