Queen Elizabeth gave Kate Middleton a sentimental 40th birthday gift with a nod to her future as a British royal.

Kate Middleton reportedly had 'princess lessons' with Queen Elizabeth II before she married Prince William to ensure she knew how to behave in public.

Since she became the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton has worn playful pantsuits and a plethora of polka dots.

"Prince William is dedicated to duty, as imbued in him by Queen Elizabeth II, who tutored him every Sunday regarding his royal duties," royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. "He's also under huge generational pressure since the increasing public popularity of the monarchy ranks highest for both him and Princess Catherine."

Kate Middleton, who is celebrating her 43rd birthday on Jan. 9, has proven herself to be the shiniest jewel of the British monarchy. The princess is married to Prince William, heir to the throne.

While the Prince of Wales will be taking the new leadership role, Kate will be needed by his side for some of the more political visits. She’s waded into this territory before, breaking royal protocols set into place by the late Queen Elizabeth II. With a modernized monarchy though, it’s hard to avoid the political arena.
