MUMBAI: A day after caretaker CM Eknath Shinde said the power sharing formula in Mahayuti, barring CM post, would be ironed out during talks with BJP's Devendra Fadnavis and NCP's Ajit Pawar, a meeting of the three via video conferencing was expected to be held Monday but it didn't take place.

Amid the delay in government formation, Shinde had on Sunday said that the Mahayuti leaders will hold a meeting to decide on portfolio distribution and power-sharing pact. Shinde-led Sena clarified that there was no meeting of the three Mahayuti leaders scheduled for Monday.

Mahayuti is planning a swearing-in ceremony on 2 December, but if power-sharing is not finalised till then, it may have to be postponed to 4 December, says an NCP insider.

In a crucial political development, Mahajan meets Shinde while the Shiv Sena awaits an invitation from BJP to discuss power sharing in Mahayuti as the new government prepares for a swearing-in ceremony on December 5.

Mahayuti leaders in Maharashtra have not yet agreed on the next chief minister, leading to ongoing discussions and speculation. Caretaker chief minister Eknath Shinde and other leaders are negotiating to finalize the power-sharing agreement.
