Ole Miss vs Mississippi State is one of the SEC's most vitriolic rivalries. How the intrastate rivalry came to be called "The Egg Bowl."

The Rebels remained idle at No. 15 in the Week 15 edition of the poll following their 26-14 Egg Bowl victory over Mississippi State Friday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Meanwhile, South Carolina moved up to No. 13 following its 17-14 road victory over then-No. 12 Clemson in the Palmetto Bowl.

The Bulldogs do appear to have found their quarterback for the future, as Van Buren stood toe-to-toe with the nationally ranked Ole Miss defense and kept the Bulldogs in the game for four quarters. The freshman finished with 280 yards passing and one touchdown, along with a handful of big plays.

The Ole Miss defense ended the game with three sacks, eight TFLs, five pass deflections, and two interceptions, giving the Bulldogs a hard time as they also kept the rushing attack to just 39 total yards on the day along with Van Buren’s completion percentage to a mere 53 percent.

The Egg Bowl trophy is staying in Oxford. The Ole Miss Rebels hope they still have a lot of places to go this season.
