A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the west coast of Japan's Ishikawa prefecture on Tuesday, the country's meteorological agency reported. The earthquake, which occurred at 1347GMT, had an epicenter at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles).

Earlier in January, a stronger 7.2 magnitude quake hit the Noto region of Japan. The tremors led to significant damages to roads and infrastructure while 370 people were killed.

The quake's epicentre was 10km under sea level, off the northeast Coast of Amami-Oshima Island, the country's meteorological agency said.
