After a New Year's Day attack struck at the heart of the French Quarter, officials in New Orleans say they are confident in the security plans they have in place for the Super Bowl. Upwards of 125,000 visitors are expected to converge on the Big Easy beginning Feb.

The Super Bowl has been tapped as an excuse to catch up on years' worth of overdue infrastructure improvements in downtown New Orleans, but it's also kickstarting new projects that can make living here day-to-day a bit easier,

Super Bowl host New Orleans is no stranger to thousands of out-of-town revelers descending upon the city and authorities there did not balk when asked if they’d be greasing their poles. They pointed out that an annual pole-greasing party hosted by a hotel in the French Quarter is how the city kicks off Mardi Gras.

On Monday, crews installed the barriers on side streets in the quarter between St. Ann and Iberville. They are located one block off Bourbon in both directions.
