Following the addition of Donkey Kong Land last week, the Game Boy – Nintendo Switch Online app has added Donkey Kong Land 2, Nintendo announced.

In a surprise update, Nintendo has today announced Donkey Kong Land for the Switch Online Game Boy library, and you can play it right now! This classic pocket-sized platformer was originally released by Rare in 1995 and marks the beginning of the DK Land trilogy on the Game Boy. Here's the official Nintendo description:

Nintendo Switch Online is continuing to add great games to its library, and the most recent addition is a long-awaited fan-favorite Game Boy title.

Donkey Kong Land 2 is now available to play for Nintendo Switch Online members. Watch the latest Nintendo Switch Online trailer for another look at the Game Boy game, Donkey Kong Land 2. K. Rool is demanding the entire banana hoard as ransom!

The original Donkey Kong Country trilogy is also already on Nintendo Switch Online, by the way, so you can really dive deep into the DK catalogue if that’s your thing. These games hold up quite well considering they’re from the ’90s. Incidentally, the DK Rap may not hold up quite as well, but it has a 2024 remake that rules.

Donkey Kong Land is out now for Nintendo Switch Online. Rare’s 1995 Game Boy platformer is available as part of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription for the Switch, and joins a growing list of classic Game Boy games available to download and play.

For its November update, Nintendo adds a handful of Sega Genesis games to its Switch Online SNES catalog for nostalgic gamers.
