Freezing conditions may potentially stick around for several days after a winter storm hit the DMV on Monday, Jan. 6. In Reston, Va., compacted snow and ice covered the roads early Tuesday morning as temperatures dropped.

Northern Virginia's first significant snowfall in three years blanketed the region with anywhere from 5 to 11 inches of the white stuff, according to preliminary reports from the National Weather Service Sterling forecast office.

One of the regions hit the hardest in Monday’s storm was south of Pittsburgh in Morgantown, West Virginia, where the area was expecting more than nine inches of snow. They were getting the most they’d seen in a long time,

Snow totals so far from today's winter storm vary around the region, with some areas seeing up to 6.5 inches so far.
