In the 87th Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2025, R Praggnanandhaa won his sixth game, Arjun Erigaisi secured his first victory, and Gukesh settled for a draw. Highlights included Praggnanandhaa's win over Alexey Sarana and Abdusattorov's defeat by Erigaisi.

Praggnanandhaa notched up his third consecutive win to take his tally to a commendable 8.5 points, same as his compatriot Gukesh after the 12th and penultimate round

In a massive setback to his Tata Steel Masters ambitions, D Gukesh drew to GM Jorden van Foreest after a complicated heavy-piece endgame. Meanwhile, R Praggnanandhaa defeated Alexey Sarana to climb up the standings and is now joint-lead with his countryman Gukesh.

D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa are currently competing at the Tata Chess Masters, the same tournament where Indian IM Divya Deshmukh was left shocked by a 11-year-old from Argentina named Faustino Oro.

Praggnanandhaa continued to share the lead on 4.5 points out of a possible six and Gukesh is right on the toes of the leaders with four points.
