Officials in eastern Tennessee say two people were killed when severe storms with a possible tornado moved through the region

A tornado swept through a swath of Tennessee, killing a mother and daughter and injuring at least three other people as it caused severe property damage, officials said.

At least two people were killed and three more injured when a possible tornado ripped through communities near Knoxville, Tennessee, Thursday night causing widespread damage.

During the first deadly tornado of the year in the USA, which struck eastern Tennessee, two people were killed. The victims were a mother and her daughter. The storm also caused significant material damage.
