BOSTON (AP) — Charlie Coyle scored a pair of third-period goals, stealing the spotlight from fellow Boston University product Macklin Celebrini in his first game back at the TD Garden as an NHLer and leading the Bruins to a 6-3 victory over San Jose on Monday.

With the Sharks trailing 2-1 midway through the second period, Smith poked the puck off the stick of Jonathan Beecher to himself in the neutral zone, worked a give-and-go with Mikael Granlund, and beat Bruins goalie Joonas Korpisalo with a wrist shot to the short side.
Will Smith came home to Boston with a goal and an assist in one of the best games of his young career. Fabian Zetterlund and Barclay Goodrow also scored for the Sharks, who have lost three straight. Yaroslav Askarov returned from an illness and made 27 saves.
After losing a pair of one-goal leads early, Coyle's handiwork delivered a needed victory and, at least temporarily, push Boston back into a playoff position.
