The British-flagged yacht, Madleen, which is operated by the pro-Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition, had aimed to deliver a symbolic amount of aid to Gaza later on Monday and raise international awareness of the humanitarian crisis there.

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and several allies were taken into Israeli custody while attempting to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza, which is facing a food crisis due to the ongoing war with Hamas.

Israel has intercepted a Gaza-bound aid ship carrying Greta Thunberg and other prominent activists, detaining those onboard, with the vessel being taken to Israel.
