Clearview AI, a controversial facial recognition startup, named Hal Lambert and Richard Schwartz co-CEOs as Hoan Ton-That resigns.

Both men have a long history in Republican politics. Lambert’s investment firm, Point Bridge Capital, is best-known for launching the MAGA ETF in 2017, which invests in corporations supportive of Republican candidates. Meanwhile, Schwartz served as a senior advisor to Rudy Giuliani during his tenure as mayor of New York City.

Hoan Ton-That left Clearview after the company struggled to secure big federal contracts. New leadership has been brought in to capitalize on “opportunities” under the Trump Administration.

According to Forbes reporter David Jeans, the problem isn’t that it’s a facial recognition surveillance company with a database of pictures scraped from social media without permission and representing the end of privacy and drawing attention from regulators.

An early Clearview AI investor and a co-founder have replaced Hoan Ton-That as CEOs, and will pursue contracts from a more sympathetic U.S. federal government.
