Chinese planemaker COMAC plans to raise production capacity for its homegrown C919 single-aisle planes to 50 this year, a COMAC executive told a media outlet supported by the Shanghai government.

Shen Bo, COMAC's Deputy General Manager, announced during the annual “Two Sessions” plenary parliamentary meeting in Shanghai on January 17, 2025, that the company plans to achieve a production capacity of 50 C919 aircraft by 2025.

Chinese aircraft manufacturer Comac plans to increase production capacity for its C919 single-aisle jets to 50 units and deliver up to 30 planes this year. Since the C919’s first commercial flight in 2023, the manufacturer has delivered 16 of them, with a backlog of over 1,000 aircraft.

Comac is reportedly targeting to deliver 30 C919 aircraft this year, as it expands the production capacity of the narrowbody programme.

The state-owned company has a target of delivering 30 planes this year, scaling back a more ambitious target announced last year.
