Kosovo’s acting prime minister Albin Kurti said a new government would be formed swiftly after the certification of results, following what he described as a historic victory for his Vetëvendosje Movement in December 28’s snap parliamentary elections.

Kosovo seceded from Serbia after a brief but bloody war in 2008, and most western countries have recognised its sovereignty. Kurti, a former anti-Serb resistance fighter, has demanded that Kosovo’s ethnic Serb minority submit to Pristina’s authority and banned Belgrade from offering them support.
