A shelter-in-place order​ remains in place and voluntary evacuations have been ordered around the SPS Technologies facility after a massive fire broke out Monday night.

Crews are still working to control a fire burning at SPS Technologies in Abington Township that started on Monday night. Nearby residents are concerned about how the smoke from the fire could impact their health.

Residents were ordered to shelter-in-place Tuesday after a large fire broke out at an aerospace manufacturer’s facility.

The shelter-in-place order initially was in effect until the incident was under control because smoke and particulates from the fire were filtering across the area, officials said
